This week I went to visit Sophie’s Shop in Blenheim Studios in East Sussex which I always enjoy, as she has such a beautiful collection of vintage and nearly new designer clothes and accessories.
I was particularly keen to visit this time as she has recently started to stock The Dress Label, whose collection of incredibly elegant dresses are all made in the UK.
The initial aim of the The Dress Label was to design flattering day and evening dresses with sleeves, that are also a wearable length (not halfway up the thigh). The collection features designs to suit different shapes, sizes, and styles so there is something for everyone. And each dress design is made in limited numbers, so you are unlikely to turn up at an event to find your arch nemesis in the same outfit as you.
I completely fell in love with The Dahlia Dress, a beautiful floaty maxi dress in a deep teal colour that was firstly, very flattering (oversized floaty dresses are not usually my thing), and secondly felt really lovely on, it is made from crepe de chine with gathered silk sleeves. I would love to wear this for a summer party, it’s perfect with a pair of simple black heels.
Next up The Tulip Dress, a fitted fuchsia pink number with a nipped in waist and petal sleeves, perfect for work or smarter occasions, and I LOVE the colour 😍.
And then The White Aster which I almost went away wearing, it is made of a midweight linen mix fabric and comes with a matching belt, absolutely perfect for a hot summer’s day, ideal with some espadrilles or wedge sandals.
And of course there were many other delights, and I got a little dress happy and tried on a number of beautiful items. I went away with a flowery Red Valentino number, and a metallic Ted Baker shift dress and was oh so tempted many many other wonderful things 😃.
If you are in Sussex, Sophie’s Shop tucked away in Forest Row is absolutely worth a visit, and she always has new stock, so you might just find yourself being tempted back again…
